Overview
Trecora was incorporated in the State of Delaware in 1967 and is a trusted leader in high-purity materials, performance waxes, aromatic monomers, and custom chemical processing and toll manufacturing services. Through our operating businesses, Trecora provides materials and technical capabilities that support critical applications across industries including polymers, adhesives and sealants, construction, energy, lubricants, and consumer products.
Our portfolio of business units includes TRECOR™, TRECWAX™, and TRECAD™ delivering advanced materials and specialized manufacturing solutions that enable customers to innovate, scale, and reliably produce high-performance products.
TRECOR™, located in Silsbee, Texas, produces high-purity Isopentane, N-Pentane, Cyclopentane, Isohexane, N-Hexane, and specialty blends used in polyethylene, polypropylene, expandable polystyrene, polyurethane foams, insulation materials, oil extraction, and catalyst systems.
TRECWAX™, located in Pasadena, Texas, produces specialty polyethylene, oxidized, alpha olefin, and synthetic waxes used in paints, inks, adhesives, coatings, packaging, and PVC processing.
TRECAD™, based in Lawrence, Kansas, manufactures phosphorus pentasulfide (P₂S₅), a key ingredient used in lubricant additives, batteries, mining chemicals, and agricultural applications.
Our Baton Rouge, Louisiana facility produces aromatic monomers and polymer including Para-Methylstyrene (PMS), Vinyltoluene (VT), Tertiary-Butylstyrene (TBS), and Divinylbenzene (DVB), which serve as key building blocks for applications such as ion exchange resins, composites, and specialty coatings.
In addition to manufacturing, Trecora provides custom chemical processing and toll manufacturing services with capabilities including reaction chemistry, polymerization, oxidation, hydrogenation, distillation, and high-vacuum processing.
Through flexible manufacturing, technical expertise, and integrated supply chain support, Trecora partners with customers to develop new products, expand capacity, and bring innovative chemistries to market.

1967
Roots in the Arabian Shield Development Company
Trecora traces its roots to the Arabian Shield Development Company in 1967, which laid the groundwork for the company’s evolution into a specialty chemicals leader.
1972
Publicly Traded
Initially established to capitalize on mineral prospects within the geological region known as the ‘Arabian Shield’ in southwestern Saudi Arabia, the company became publicly traded in 1972.
1970-1990
Financial Backing and Success
1987
Refinery Acquired in U.S.
Recognizing a promising opportunity in the U.S. hydrocarbon industry, the company acquired the strategically located Sinclair Oil refinery in Silsbee, Texas. Formerly known as South Hampton Resources, the facility underwent major renovations and expansions, becoming the centerpiece of the company’s transition to producing and marketing high-purity specialty hydrocarbons.
2006 and 2008
Partnerships for Mine Completion
By 2006, mine completion costs had exceeded projections. To advance the project, Arabian American Development Company established Al-Masane Al-Kobra (AMAK) in 2008. Saudi investors contributed $60 million for a 59% stake, while Arabian Americans contributed the Al-Masane assets for the remaining 41%. The new entity also assumed the existing $11 million in long-term debt.
2022
Acquisition by Balmoral Funds
In 2022, Trecora underwent a pivotal change when we were acquired by Balmoral Funds, a private equity firm. Recognizing substantial value within Trecora, Balmoral Funds facilitated the relocation of the company’s headquarters to The Woodlands, Texas. This relocation signifies a notable change in our corporate base and emphasizes a new phase in its corporate journey.
2000
Rebrand
In 2000, the company rebranded from Arabian Shield to Arabian American Development Company.
2012
Joined NY Stock Exchange
In a testament to the company’s achievements, Trecora joined the New York Stock Exchange in 2012.
2014
Refinery Acquisitions
Marking a significant milestone in Trecora’s growth, the Pasadena plant was acquired in 2014 to expand production capacity and support the development of high-quality, sustainable materials for diverse industries.
2023
Refinery Acquisitions
In 2023, Trecora expanded its specialty chemicals portfolio by acquiring Chemtrade’s P2S5 business in Lawrence, KS. This strategic move strengthened the company’s commitment to providing innovative solutions for evolving lubricant requirements while supporting sustainable growth.
2025
Expansion into Aromatic Monomers
Trecora acquires the assets of Deltech Monomers OpCo LLC in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, adding production of specialty styrenic monomers such as Divinylbenzene and Vinyltoluene.
