How Petrochemical Processors Help Keep America on Track

Incredibly, the history of the country is associated with petrochemicals. From transport to manufacture, down to healthcare, we have used petrochemicals to revolutionize almost everything. Indeed, America's petrochemical processors accomplish extraordinary work every day - work that keeps the country on track.

As one of the leading petrochemical manufacturers in Texas, we have proudly earned many key responsibilities. We believe our contributions to America's economic and infrastructural growth are important. The better we do our jobs, the better off the entire country is.

What It Is We Actually Do

A petrochemical manufacturer is a company concerned with the processing of crude oil and natural gas into various types of chemicals, waxes, and products. For instance, we produce raw intermediate materials used by other industries in their processes. We produce materials involved in manufacturing. Some even generate a wide variety of consumer and industrial goods that go directly from the processing plant to distribution.

After all, it is a question of refining fossil fuel into far more useful products that reach almost every part of modern life. The most shocking thing, though, is how we all engage daily with products that wouldn't exist without petrochemicals - nor even notice we do. That's just how deeply petrochemicals are embedded in modern culture.

A 5-Step Process

Petrochemical manufacturing is not a simple venture. To do it safely and reliably requires a huge knowledge base combined with expertise and loads of hard work. Rather than dig into the details of just how we manage to create what we do, this will give a rundown of the 5 basic and easy steps we proceed through in order to convert crude oil and natural gas into something we can use:

1. Extraction and Refinement

The process begins with the extraction and refining of crude oil and natural gas. This can be extracted from any number of sources. Refining usually separates the oil and gas into separate and distinct fractions.

2. Distillation

The process of separating many of the compounds by applying heat and pressure to them is called distillation. Due to their vaporizing at different rates, they can be captured through distillation. These petrochemical fractions we are producing through refining, then they are distilled to produce distinctive and various hydrocarbon fractions.

3. Reforming

After undergoing the process of cracking, we revert to a set of processes that would reform the hydrocarbons into aromatic compounds. Tracking yields compounds such as benzene and toluene.

4. Polymerization

The last stage of production is polymerization. This is the process in which hydrocarbon molecules are put together to form bigger molecules called polymers. Extra polymers can then be joined together in a long chain and various products produced from them.

Not all the polymers can undergo further processing to form both the intermediate and final products. In such instances, then, there is an extra step beyond the five discussed herein.

A Cornerstone of Modern Manufacturing

Petrochemical processing is one of the cornerstones of modern manufacturing. Most manufacturing materials are petrochemical based; the actual number is hard to quantify. Just think of plastic-it begins its life as a petrochemical. Now, if we are to attempt to quantify the amount of plastic we encounter in our daily lives, well, it just wouldn't be possible. For that, we have the petrochemical processor to thank.

The chemicals, waxes, and other various products manufactured by us find their applications in manufacturing, agriculture, construction, consumer electronics, healthcare, energy, among others. As a leading petrochemical processor, we continue to do what we do to help keep America on track. We are proud of what we do and happy to be able to contribute to America's greatness.
